Reds Call Up Cincinnati Native to MLB Roster

The Cincinnati Reds' poor start to the 2022 season has them searching for a spark. This team could use any help it can get after going 3-14 over the first 17 games of the year.
In need of a boost to their bullpen, the Reds have opted to call up a reliever from Triple-A. Making things even better: he's a Cincinnati native.
The #Reds today placed on the 10-day injured list, retro to Sunday, LHP Justin Wilson (left elbow soreness) and selected from Triple-A Louisville the contract of LHP Phillip Diehl.

Phillip Diehl Reds
Lefty reliever Phillip Diehl was called up by the Reds on Wednesday. He joins the team as fellow LHP Justin Wilson hit the 10-day injured list with left elbow sorness.
Anyone from the Cincinnati area is likely over the moon at this news. Diehl attended nearby Archbishop Moeller High School before going on to play college ball at Louisiana Tech University. After excelling there, Diehl was drafted in the 27th round by the New York Yankees in 2016.
Diehl was traded to the Colorado Rockies in 2019, whom he made his MLB debut with in June of that year. He made 16 combined major-league appearances from 2019-2020 with Colorado before being picked up off of waivers by the Reds in 2021.
Since then, Diehl has impressed in Triple-A. He posted a 2.47 ERA and 71 strikeouts across 58 appearances (54.2 innings) in 2021.
Hopefully, the hometown boy is able to carve out a role for himself in his first taste of MLB action as a Red.
