The Boston Red Sox haven't exactly had an offseason to brag about, nevertheless, after losing star shortstop Xander Bogaerts in free agency, Boston has tried to do what it can to recover.

Red Sox Trade for Richard Bleier

On Tuesday, the Red Sox acquired lefty reliever Richard Bleier from the Miami Marlins, in exchange for former closer Matt Barnes and cash considerations.

Bleier has been a reliable reliever for the Marlins the last two seasons and really for the entirety of his career. He's had an ERA under 2.00 in five of his seven seasons. Last year could be considered a "down year" for Bleier and he still had a 3.55 ERA in 55 games.

He will now be a great lefty middle reliever in Boston, who is quietly trying to rebuild a very strong bullpen. Boston might have a long way to go in building a contender once again, but they have taken a few small steps in that direction.
