Largely thanks to trading away one of the best players in baseball in Mookie Betts, the Boston Red Sox's expectations have certainly been lowered in 2020, but they still have a solid core in place. With that in mind, here's a full preview of the Red Sox's 2020 MLB season potential outcomes and projected achievements, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.

Red Sox Win Total

Under the assumption that each MLB team still plays the standard 162 regular-season games in 2020, the Red Sox's original projected win total was 89.5 games, which was tied with the Washington Nationals for eighth-highest mark in the MLB. They have since traded former MVP Betts and lost ace starting pitcher Chris Sale for the season.

When we eventually do get another MLB win total projection, it will likely be much lower than this original over/under.

Red Sox Odds to Win AL East

The divisional odds have already been updated, and they basically tanked after the aforementioned Red Sox's offseason issues. They now sit third in the AL East, but their +1500 odds to win it have dramatically lowered from where they began. Those +1500 odds have an implied probability of 6.3 percent. The New York Yankees are the heavy favorites at -440, with the Tampa Bay Rays in between the two at a +380 underdog.

Red Sox Odds to Win AL Pennant

Boston's American League Pennant odds have slipped as well, falling to ninth in the AL at +2400. This high number yields an implied probability of 4.0 percent, which gives the Red Sox relatively long odds to make a deep postseason run in 2020.

Red Sox Odds to Win World Series

As you would expect, the Red Sox's shot at a World Series in 2020 are as high as your likelihood of finding the proverbial needle in a haystack, according to the odds. They are tied with the Arizona Diamondbacks for 18th-best odds in the MLB, at +4600, or just a 2.1 implied probability of winning it all.
