The Baltimore Ravens are still feeling the mental wounds that came from their massive collapse against the Miami Dolphins in Week 2. Head coach John Harbaugh mentioned the lack of a consistent pass rush as one reason why the Ravens blew their huge lead, causing the organization to host a former All-Pro edge rusher.

NFL insider Jordan Schultz reports that the Ravens are meeting with veteran Jason Pierre-Paul on Tuesday. The former 2010 first-rounder spent the 2021 season with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers but hasn't been able to find a new team just yet.

Ravens Roster Rumors

Baltimore had one of the worst pass-rush units in the NFL last season and hasn't looked much better this year. The Ravens have tallied just 4 sacks through two games this year, putting them on pace for 34 — the same total that saw them finish tied for the ninth-worst total in 2021.

Assuming that he has anything left in the tank, Pierre-Paul should help with that issue. The three-time Pro-Bowler has amassed 91.5 sacks over 165 games in his career. While his 2.5 sacks, 14 pressures and 5 quarterback hits from last season were far from his best marks, they show that the 33-year-old veteran can still be a reliable depth piece.

Pierre-Paul is also valuable because of the two Super Bowl rings he brings to the table. That's the kind of experience he can share with a young pass rusher like Odafe Oweh, who Baltimore would like to see step up.

Dating back to last year, the Ravens have now lost seven of their last eight games. The offense hasn't been much of a problem, leaving time to tell if Pierre-Paul is the piece that helps Baltimore's defense turn things around.

Ravens vs Patriots Week 3 Odds

If Pierre-Paul joins the Ravens, his first chance at playing comes in the form of a Week 3 matchup with the New England Patriots. FanDuel Sportsbook's NFL odds expect Baltimore to bounce back as 3-point road favorites heading into Foxborough.
