After missing out on postseason baseball for the fifth year in a row, the Texas Rangers are ready to spend this offseason. Texas will prioritize adding a premier shortstop to the mix alongside Isiah Kiner-Falefa, but the spending won't stop there. After all, the front office enters this offseason with just $28.4 million on the books.
On Monday, MLB insider Jon Heyman reported that the Rangers have shown interest in an exciting free-agent outfielder – Starling Marte.
Starling Marte Free Agency
Marte is one of the most highly sought-after free agents this offseason. The speedy outfielder is fresh off a season in which he slashed .310/.383/.458 to go along with 12 home runs and a league-leading 47 stolen bases.
Texas is in the market for outfield bats to go alongside the outstanding play of Adolis Garcia, who smacked 30 home runs and more than 90 RBIs in 2021.
Heyman also reports that Marte is garnering interest from other teams including the Philadelphia Phillies, Houston Astros, New York Mets and New York Yankees.
