The Texas Rangers wasted no time at the conclusion of their 2022 regular season in finding a new manager to lead the franchise. Texas announced the hiring of Bruce Bochy back in October. The team has taken its time to fill out the remainder of his coaching staff, however.

Just hours after a report from Dallas Morning News revealed a "leading candidate" in Texas' search for a new pitching coach, the team announced its official hire on Wednesday afternoon.

The name is a familiar one. Mike Maddux has been officially hired as emerged as the Rangers' new pitching coach for the 2023 season. He rounds out the remainder of Bochy's coaching staff.

Maddux most recently worked for the St. Louis Cardinals from 2017-22. He did have a lengthy run with the Rangers previously, a role that spanned from 2009-2015. Notably, the Rangers reached the 2010 and 2011 World Series during his previous stint.

Pitching coach was the last open position on Bochy's staff. The franchised hired Will Venable as an associate manager and Bochy intends to keep much of former manager Chris Woodward's staff.
