Just a few months after the New England Patriots sent quarterback Jarrett Stidham to the Las Vegas Raiders via trade, the two teams have agreed to another deal. This time, offensive lineman Justin Herron is being shipped to Las Vegas as the Raiders make a move to protect quarterback Derek Carr.

SI.com's Albert Breer reported that the Patriots will send a 2024 seventh-round draft pick along with Herron in exchange for Las Vegas' 2024 sixth-round draft pick. Herron now joins a familiar face as new Raiders head coach Josh McDaniels spent the previous 10 seasons as New England's offensive coordinator.

Herron did not play in either of the Patriots' two games this year, but he did earn 10 starts throughout the 2020 & 2021 seasons. The 26-year-old gave up 6.0 sacks and drew 2 penalties across 745 snaps played during that span. Herron now has a chance to take on a bigger role on a shaky offensive line.

The Raiders have been relying on another ex-Patriot in Jermaine Eluemunor to man the right tackle position after Brandon Parker suffered a triceps injury in the preseason. Rookie Thayer Munford has also seen some playing time, though, suggesting a clear-cut starter has yet to be determined.

Only giving up a draft pick swap makes this deal a low-risk, high-reward situation for Las Vegas. Keep an eye on if Herron can improve under new leadership. In order to make room on the roster, the team has waived cornerback Javelin Guidry, although they plan to bring him back on the practice squad.

The Raiders are slated as a 1.5-point road favorite in their Week 3 matchup against the Tennessee Titans, according to FanDuel Sportsbook's NFL odds.
