It is uncertain whether or not San Francisco running back Tevin Coleman will play in Week 1 due to a combination of the poor air quality in the Bay area and his own pre-existing health condition. If he is unable to suit up, it improves the fantasy outlook for 49er's starter Raheem Mostert.

Mostert showed out for the 49ers in the playoffs last season and looks to be the clear-cut starter heading into this season. However, Coleman saw a lot of time on the field as the No. 2 running back in 2019 as well. He will have a role in this offense when he is healthy.

Facing and Arizona Cardinals' defense that ranked in the bottom third of the NFL in rushing yards allowed per game in 2019 (120.1), Mostert has a great matchup and should receive more work than usual if Tevin Coleman is out since his backup then becomes Jerick McKinnon. McKinnon is coming back from a long recovery from a knee injury. He hasn't played in a game since 2017 and will likely need time to adjust back into NFL action.

Mostert could be looking at a 20-plus touch day as the 49ers will look to grind out a win against the Cardinals. Considered a flex play in many leagues, don't be surprised if Mostert ends up posting RB2 numbers this week as the go-to running back for quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo and the 49ers.

Mostert comes in ranked as the No. 27 running back in our Week 1 fantasy football rankings. If Coleman is not able to play, watch for Mostert to be able to outperform some of the running backs ranked around him and start the season off with a productive game.
