The Pittsburgh Pirates have surprised some to the start of the 2022 campaign. Managing a 9-13 record to this point, it's clear this squad has some young pieces to be excited about.

Jason Mackey of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports former catcher Jason Kendall has discussed an instructor role with the team. He had a recent meeting with director of player development John Baker, which showcases this is a legit possibility.

This news is sure to excite Pirates fans. Kendall was a force behind the plate for nine seasons in Pittsburgh, racking up three All-Star selections during his time with the team.

As a 15-year MLB veteran, Kendall has a treasure trove of knowledge to share with the Pirates' promising young pieces. Even though he'd likely be in just a part-time role, his experience would be invaluable as this team looks to develop into a legit NL contender.
