The Philadelphia Phillies are fighting to stay alive in the NL East and currently sit 5.0 games back of first place with a 33-33 record. Fans grew concerned when Bryce Harper left Tuesday's game with a back injury as the lineup cannot afford to lose the power and discipline he brings to the plate.

However, they can breathe a sigh of relief as the injury doesn't seem to be a long-term issue.

Phillies News: Harper Expected to Start on Friday

Harper was originally diagnosed as day-to-day with lower back tightness and he did sit out the team's game on Wednesday night. The good news is that he only needed to rest for recovery and is expected to rejoin the starting lineup on Friday night as the Phillies take on the San Francisco Giants.

The 28-year-old slugger has been one of the most well-rounded Phillies hitters this season. He ranks second on the team with a .387 on-base percentage and third with 8 home runs. Overall, he has also posted 30 runs scored to go along with 18 RBI and 5 stolen bases.

The only concern moving forward here is that this is the second time this season Harper is dealing with a back injury. There doesn't seem to be a cause for alarm, but it is vital to keep a star player like Harper healthy ad he is playing in the third year of a massive 13-year deal worth $330 million.
