It looks like the Philadelphia Flyers are ready to move on from Shayne Gostisbehere. The 27-year-old defenseman has regularly been a healthy scratch for the Flyers this year and had his defensive game questioned.
Gostisbehere is only a few seasons removed from being in the Rookie of the Year conversation after putting up 17 goals and 46 points in 64 games for the 2015-16 Flyers.
Two years after that, the former second-round draft pick was being discussed as a potential Norris Trophy candidate after registering 65 points in 78 games while going +10 in the 2017-18 campaign. This season, Gostisbehere has played in just 25 of 34 games for Philly, averaging just over 20 minutes per game. The Florida native has just 5 goals and 11 points, with seven of them coming on the powerplay.
Philadelphia has a 17-13-4 record, sits fifth in the NHL's East Division, and is +3700 to win the Stanley Cup as per FanDuel Sportsbook. Other teams will likely be gun-shy on pulling the trigger on Ghost thanks to his six-year, $27 million contract inked back in June 2017.
