The Minnesota Vikings brought back veteran cornerback Patrick Peterson on a one-year deal in free agency in order to bolster their secondary in 2022. The eight-time Pro Bowler recently sent out a hilarious tweet that perfectly encapsulates his feelings about returning to play in Minnesota.
Peterson posted a video of his face on a dancing body that moves up a set of stairs before meeting quarterback Kirk Cousins, safety Harrison Smith and wide receiver Justin Jefferson in another room. His caption stated that that's what it's going to be like when he is welcomed him back to the facilities.
It's clear that Peterson enjoyed his first season with the Vikings and his statistics go to show that he fit well in their system. The 11-year pro racked up 45 tackles (2.0 for loss), 5 pass breakups and 1 interception in 13 games played. Peterson also had a pick-six for the first time since 2014.
Unfortunately, Minnesota still allowed 252.9 passing yards per game (No. 28 in NFL) and finished with the 10.7 yards per completion (T-No. 25 in NFL). Their 13th-place finish in pass defense DVOA rating goes to show that improvement may be on the horizon and Peterson could play a huge role.
All things considered, Peterson seems happy to be back with the Vikings and ready to wreak havoc on the rest of the NFC North division. Minnesota currently has odds set at +280 to take home the divisional crown and have +3500 odds to win Super Bowl 57, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
