The Green Bay Packers have made the NFC Championship game in each of the last two seasons due in large part to the stellar play of their starting quarterback Aaron Rodgers. However, speculation continues to grow regarding his contract situation with the team this offseason.

Packers President Mark Murphy did not say anything in his recent press conference to make fans feel as if circumstances were improving at all. In fact, he wouldn't answer any questions about Rodgers or his contract.

Aaron Rodgers Contract

This stance is a lot different than the one Murphy had back in January. He specifically said: "There's no way in heck Aaron is not going to be on the Packers." However, there seems to be no progress made on a restructured contract at this point since that statement.

The Packers need to do everything they can to make sure Rodgers is the team's quarterback all the way up to his eventual retirement. The reigning NFL MVP had a great season in 2020 completing a league-leading 70.7% of his passes and setting a career-high with 48 passing touchdowns.

Green Bay has made it a point to restructure a number of players' contracts in order to open up cap space and sign free agents, yet nothing has been done with Rodgers. The veteran signal-caller is under contract through 2023, but it'd be smart to give him the assurance he needs before the next NFL season kicks off in August.

This is quickly becoming a storyline to keep an eye on for the rest of the offseason.
