Reinforcements are on the way for the Atlanta Braves. All-Star second baseman Ozzie Albies is working his way back from a left foot fracture suffered in mid-June, and he's made enough progress to finally begin a rehab assignment at Triple-A Gwinnett.

It's clear Albies has plenty of rust to shake off after his first minor league appearance.

The standout 2B went 0-for-4 against the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp on Thursday, striking out once. After only appearing as the DH in his first outing, he's expected to return to the field on Friday.

Albies' slow start is to be expected. This was his first taste of live-game action since June 13, so it's understandable he'll take a little bit to get comfortable at the plate again. Braves insider David O'Brien said it could be a "couple of weeks" before Albies rejoins Atlanta, which gives him plenty of time to get back into form.

The impending return of Albies and starter Mike Soroka will be a huge boost to this team heading into the postseason. Atlanta currently leads the NL Wild Card chase and sits just 3.0 games back of the New York Mets in the NL East, so adding two more All-Stars to the mix down the stretch primes them for a strong October once again.
