Cincinnati Reds outfielder Nick Castellanos isn't the biggest fan of MLB commissioner Rob Manfred this year.
Castellanos was suspended for two games earlier this season for his part in "instigating" a bench-clearing brawl between the Reds and St. Louis Cardinals when in reality he did very little that resembled anything suspension-worthy.
Well on Saturday, he tried to find a way to make his thoughts about Rob Manfred clear without having to actually risk a fine by saying anything negative about Manfred himself.
Castellanos said very little in his post-game interview, instead passing the headset over to a fan, who had apparently told him to "imagine that Rob Manfred's face was on the baseball" right before Castellanos blasted the ball for a home run.
Castellanos' shrug says it all, but in reality there's a pretty good chance he ends up fined for this one anyway. Whether it's for taking a shot at the commissioner or for getting up close and personal with a fan (which surely violates some COVID protocols), something tells me the league will find a way to lay down some discipline.
Of course, the MLB could also decide to use this as an opportunity for a "make-up call" on Castellanos' suspension, and let it slide.
