Nick Bosa burst onto the scene as a rookie in 2019, as he instantly proved himself to be a top-tier pass-rusher. He racked up 9 sacks, 16 tackles for loss and 25 quarterback hits, receiving an excellent 86.7 grade from Pro Football Focus – the ninth-best grade among all edge defenders with at least 700 snaps.

As impressive as that rookie season was, even the most optimistic of San Francisco 49ers fans might be a little surprised to see where he ranks in the odds to win Defensive Player of the Year. Bosa currently boasts the third-best odds in the league at +1400, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.

The 22-year-old trails only Aaron Donald (+750) and Khalil Mack (+1100), who have both won the award in the past. In fact, he currently has better odds than Stephon Gilmore (+1500) who is the NFL's reigning Defensive Player of the Year.

T.J. Watt is tied with Gilmore for the fourth-best odds, ranking one spot ahead of his older brother J.J. Watt (+1800), who is a three-time DPOY.

Still, that Bosa is this high on the list already is impressive as he's the only player younger than 25 years old inside the top seven and is entering just his second season.

While Bosa's inclusion inside the top three in the odds is impressive, and a little surprising, these odds will surely continue to shift as the offseason progresses.
