If you're looking for some more underdogs that could pull off wins in Week 9, here are three teams that should be on upset alert on this weekend's slate of games.
1. Houston Texans (-1.5) vs. Jacksonville Jaguars
The Houston Texans managed to win in Week 8, but that victory came with a significant cost, as J.J. Watt was lost for the season. QB Deshaun Watson and OT Laremy Tunsil got banged up as well, meaning a team that isn't 100 percent will have to travel to London to take on a Jacksonville Jaguars team that played the Texans closely back in Week 2 in Houston. Jacksonville also has much more experience in London than Houston does. The Jaguars have played across the pond in each season since 2013, while the Texans have never played in London. With Gardner Minshew coming off one of the most productive performances of his career in Week 8, the Jaguars have a chance to pull off the Week 9 upset in their second home this weekend.
2. Tennessee Titans vs. Carolina Panthers (-3.5)
In Week 8, Kyle Allen threw his first interception and suffered his first loss of the season as the Carolina Panthers' starter. While he's done an admirable job filling in for an injured Cam Newton, Allen only beat one team (the Texans) that currently sits above .500 during his four-game winning streak. The Titans also present a difficult matchup for the Panthers as Tennessee has a top-5 rush defense, according to Football Outsiders' DVOA rankings. If the Titans manage to take Carolina's prolific rushing attack away on Sunday, Allen could be forced to carry the offense, something that could benefit a Tennessee team that has played much better since Ryan Tannehill took over as the team's starting QB.
3. Detroit Lions vs. Oakland Raiders (-2)
The Detroit Lions have been on the wrong side of some heartbreaking losses this season, but they're still sitting at .500 with a 3-3-1 record through seven games. They've also managed to hang in pretty much every game they've played thus far, as just one of Detroit's three losses has come by more than four points. The Lions are averaging the fifth-most passing yards per game in 2019, which could be a problem for an Oakland Raiders' defense surrendering the third-most passing yards to opposing QBs this season. Detroit could come out on top in Oakland this weekend.
