With the first selection in the 2021 NFL Draft, it's pretty much a foregone conclusion that the Jacksonville Jaguars will be taking Trevor Lawrence as their quarterback of the future. Despite how good Lawrence could be, he won't be able to do everything on his own.
The Jaguars have five draft picks in the first three rounds of the upcoming draft, meaning there will be several opportunities to find weapons to pair with Lawrence.
Here are three players that the Jaguars can pair with Lawrence that could end up being steals.
3. Tylan Wallace, WR, Oklahoma State
Tylan Wallace seems likely to come off the board sometime in Round 2. The Oklahoma State receiver recorded 3,434 yards and 26 touchdowns in four years at the school. He also ran a 4.39-second 40-yard dash back in February. With other receivers being looked at ahead of Wallace, he could end up being a steal for the Jaguars in the second round or at the top of Round 3 if he falls.
2. Amari Rodgers, WR, Clemson
When you draft a superstar-caliber quarterback like Lawrence, you need to make him feel as comfortable as possible. The Jaguars could do that by drafting his Clemson teammate Amari Rodgers in the second or third round. Rodgers was the top receiver at Clemson last season, making 77 receptions for 1,020 yards and 7 touchdowns. Having Rodgers on the roster would give Lawrence some familiarity as he adjusts to the NFL level.
1. Samuel Cosmi, OT, Texas
While getting weapons for your star quarterback is always needed, it's equally as important to protect them from getting hit. The Cincinnati Bengals learned that the hard way as Joe Burrow was sacked 32 times in 2020 (T-11th). One bad hit famously ended the QB's season. The Jaguars can avoid that with Lawrence by drafting Samuel Cosmi. The 6-foot-7 tackle only allowed 2 sacks in eight games last season and could be a potential steal for Jacksonville at the top of the second round.
