Nets' Odds to Win 2020 NBA Championship Soar With Reports of Signing Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving
By David Hayes

When it comes to the latest odds to win the 2020 NBA Finals, apparently free-agency reports released prior to Sunday's official start of 2019 NBA free agency are more than enough to shake things up in a major way, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
Following a report claiming Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving are agreeing to terms with the Brooklyn Nets, the team's odds to win next year's NBA Finals have now soared from +2600 to +1700 in a matter of minutes.
Sources: Durant will sign a 4-year, $164M deal with the Nets; Irving will sign 4-years, $141M.

While this climb in the Nets' odds might be the kind of explosion some were expecting, keep in mind Durant will likely miss the entirety of next season due to an Achilles injury suffered in Game 5 of the NBA Finals.
The Nets actually opened this offseason with +2400 odds of winning the 2020 NBA Finals, but these odds fell as low as +4200 on June 21. However, amid more reports speculating Irving is joining Durant in Brooklyn, the Nets' odds jumped back to +2600 ahead of Sunday's news.

Durant's reported plan to join the Nets comes as hard news to the New York Knicks organization, which was long considered the most likely landing spot for Durant prior to Sunday's curveball.
The Knicks opened the offseason with +2500 odds of winning next year's NBA title on June 14, but quickly dropped to +5500 on June 21 before rebounding to +4500 just before the Durant news.
The Knicks traded Porzingis, tanked for the #1 pick, opened up 2 max contract slots and wound up with:

-No Kyrie
There will likely be much more change to come in next season's title odds, especially with Kawhi Leonard's future up in the air, as recent reports seem to have him choosing between the Los Angeles Lakers (+360) and the Los Angeles Clippers (+1300).
