NBA DFS 12/16/2021

Without further ado, here are three players to target and two to avoid in Thursday, 12/16, NBA DFS action.

FanDuel Picks Tonight NBA - 12/16

Domantas Sabonis Fantasy

Target Domantas Sabonis, PF/C, Indiana Pacers ($9,200): Domantas Sabonis is rolling. He's currently on an eight-game double-double streak, averaging 21.6 points, 13.4 rebounds and 5.0 assists per game over that span. The resurgence in Sabonis' playmaking is especially encouraging after the big man dropped off from the career-high 6.7 assists he put up last season. Sabonis could be in for another all-around outing against the Detroit Pistons, who rank in the top 10 for most PPG and RPG allowed to opponents.

Chris Paul Fantasy

Target Chris Paul, PG, Phoenix Suns ($8,600): Chris Paul continues to shoulder the playmaking load with Devin Booker sidelined. In the last six games with Booker out, Paul's bumped up his assist numbers (10.7 per game) from his season average (10.3) while putting up 14.7 points and 3.3 rebounds per contest. His 12.5 field goal attempts per game during this period are up from his season average of 11.2 as well, so it's clear this offense is centered around CP3 for the time being. Paul should have no issues exploiting a Washington Wizards team that's given up at least 116 points in each of their past five games.

Frank Jackson Fantasy

Target Frank Jackson, PG, Detroit Pistons ($4,600): Frank Jackson's role is trending upward as of late. Two of his four games over 30-plus minutes this season have occurred over the past three contests alone. He has performances of 28.7 and 25.9 FanDuel fantasy points during that stretch, thanks to an average of 17.3 PPG with 52% shooting from deep on 8.3 attempts per game. Detroit will likely let the young guard loose in a game where they could trail early as 10.5-point underdogs.

Joel Embiid Fantasy

Avoid Joel Embiid, C, Philadelphia 76ers ($10,500): Joel Embiid is a risky play on a back-to-back. He returned from a one-game absence and failed to dominate a short-handed Miami Heat team on Wednesday despite playing 37 minutes. Embiid hasn't surpassed 50 fantasy points in any of his past four games, so it's hard to trust him at this price against a Brooklyn Nets defense that ranks sixth-best in defensive rating.

Julius Randle Fantasy

Avoid Julius Randle, PF/C, New York Knicks ($8,700): Julius Randle isn't lighting it up either. He's scored more than 40 fantasy points just once over his past five games, with poor shooting (39.1% from the field) and ball security (4.0 turnovers per contest) to blame. The Houston Rockets should be a bounce-back matchup, but Randle only managed 39.5 fantasy points in 33 minutes when they met earlier this year. He's far from a sure thing on Thursday.
