The New York Jets are in search of a new offensive coordinator after Mike LaFleur's reported departure to the Los Angeles Rams. The franchise has been quick to address the new opening but kicked off its search with a less-than-impressive candidate.

Somehow, former Broncos head coach Nathaniel Hackett has landed a meeting with New York after bombing with the Denver Broncos.

Nathaniel Hackett Jets Rumors

Hackett was fired after just 15 games as Denver's head coach, leading the team to a dismal 4-11 record and overseeing the NFL's worst offense in terms of points scored.

This may ring alarm bells for Jets fans, but we don't have to go far back in Hackett's resume to see his great successes as an OC. He was brilliant for the Green Bay Packers from 2019-21, which ultimately landed him the Broncos' head coaching gig. Hackett has also worked as an OC for the Jacksonville Jaguars and Buffalo Bills.

It could also be just a sign of goodwill from current Jets head coach Robert Saleh. He and Hackett worked as assistants for the Jaguars in 2015 and 2016, so Saleh may simply be tossing his old colleague a life preserver to help him get back on his feet.
