His best days are likely behind him, but Emmanuel Sanders can still get it done at a high level. He proved as much with the San Francisco 49ers, tallying 502 receiving yards on 36 receptions in just 10 games after being traded to the team in October 2019.
That kind of production should ensure there is plenty of competition for Sanders' services once he hits the open market this offseason. With that in mind, let's take a look at three of the most likely destinations for the two-time Pro Bowler in free agency.
Emmanuel Sanders NFL Free Agency Destinations
1. New England Patriots
This pairing would really only make sense if Tom Brady, or another high-level quarterback, is back under center in 2020. With one of the best defenses in the league, upgrading the skill-position group could make the New England Patriots legitimate Super Bowl contenders sooner rather than later. Sanders would certainly give that unit a boost, as his 869 total receiving yards from last season were more than any Patriots' pass-catcher other than Julian Edelman.
2. Green Bay Packers
Another WR-needy contender, the Green Bay Packers, could be a viable option as Davante Adams was the only member of the team with more than 500 receiving yards in 2019. Clearly, this team needs to prioritize finding a threat to pair with Adams, and Sanders certainly fits the bill. Green Bay doesn't have much cap space, but if the Packers can make the money work, Sanders would be an excellent fit.
3. San Francisco 49ers
Of course, Sanders could always return to the team that just traded for him. Like Green Bay, San Francisco isn't exactly flush with cash, but WR is undoubtedly a need for the team. Sanders and Deebo Samuel were the only SF wideouts to record at least 400 receiving yards last season, and retaining the veteran could make a ton of sense for the 49ers.
