The Cincinnati Reds sit in fourth place in the NL Central at 40-61 as Tuesday's trade deadline approaches. This makes them a perfect candidate to be big-time sellers. The Reds have already traded away the ace of its staff in Luis Castillo to the Seattle Mariners for a massive haul of prospects.

Brandon Drury Trade Rumors

Another perceived logical trade candidate is third basemen Brandon Drury. After an up-and-down career, hampered by injuries, Drury is enjoying a career year. As of Monday, Drury is slashing .275/.336/.523 with 20 home runs and 59 RBI.

What's surprising is the Reds, who are clearly going into a rebuild, are considering signing Drury to an extension, rather than trading him, according to The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal. At face value it might make sense to re-sign a guy that is performing so well, but at 29 years old, Drury doesn't really match up with the Reds projected timeline of being competitive again.

Reds Trade Rumors

There is no strong indication on what will happen with Drury ahead of the deadline, but it's clear the Reds are considering multiple avenues. If they get an offer too good to turn down, it's tough to imagine them keeping the veteran third basemen.

Regardless the next 36 or so hours should be a crazy time in baseball that should see a flurry of deals go down.
