MLB Insider Names Diamondbacks' Single Biggest Trade Priority Ahead of Deadline
By Larry Rupp

The Arizona Diamondbacks have made the playoffs once in the last decade and it doesn't look like that number will jump to two this year. They currently sit 6.0 games back of the final NL Wild Card spot with a 37-45 record and are expected to be sellers at the upcoming MLB trade deadline.

Arizona Diamondbacks Trade Rumors
On the bright side, Arizona has a few players capable of bringing back a prospect or two that could help the team improve beyond 2022. That includes slugger Christian Walker and pitcher Zach Davies. ESPN's David Schoenfield sees dealing outfielder David Peralta as the team's top priority, though.
Peralta has spent all nine seasons of his MLB career with the Diamondbacks and seen a lot of success. He has posted a batting average above .300 twice and smacked 30 home runs in 2018. However, he is playing on the final year of his deal and could give a contender a boost on offense.
The 34-year-old lines up as a perfect platoon bat to employ in left field or as a reliable pinch-hitter to lean on in the late innings. Peralta is slashing .250/.318/.470 across 71 games this season to go along with 24 runs scored, 16 doubles, 11 home runs and 36 RBI. His walk rate sits at a career-high 8.9%.
The return wouldn't bee too valuable for Peralta, but it is better for the Diamondbacks to get something now rather than nothing in the offseason. A market for him will certainly be there. For now, Arizona has odds set at +250000 to win the World Series, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
