Mike Zimmer Provides Update on Adam Thielen Injury

The Minnesota Vikings were given a scare regarding one of their top players during Saturday's 12-10 preseason loss to the Indianapolis Colts. Veteran wideout Adam Thielen exited the contest with a thigh injury during Minnesota's first possession and did not return to the game.
Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer updated reporters on Thielen's status on Sunday morning, saying that the 31-year-old wide receiver is dealing with a thigh bruise. Considering how the injury isn't something much more serious, Vikings fans around the country are certainly breathing a sigh of relief.
#Vikings WR Adam Thielen celebrates his 31st birthday today. As for being knocked out of the game on the first possession Saturday, Vikings coach Mike Zimmer said, "He got a knee to the thigh, so he's got a thigh bruise.''

Adam Thielen Injury Update
Along with second-year wideout Justin Jefferson, Thielen will once again be one of the Vikings' top pass-catching options in 2021. While he failed to post a 1,000-yard campaign for the second straight year, Thielen still caught 74 balls for 925 receiving yards and 14 touchdowns. Considering how Davante Adams (18) and Tyreek Hill (15) were the only players to have more receiving TDs than Thielen, that just goes to show how talented the wideout is.
The truth is that the Vikings can't afford to lose Thielen for an extended period of time. Aside from him, Jefferson and Dede Westbrook, who is coming off of a season-ending ACL tear, Minnesota doesn't have a ton of wide receiver depth. Most of their options are either unproven or uninspiring, so the offense would certainly take a hit without Thielen.
The Vikings will enter the 2021 NFL season as a bubble team. FanDuel Sportsbook is currently favoring them to miss the postseason for the third time in four years at -116 odds. Meanwhile, their odds to make the playoffs are listed at -106.
