Things are moving in the right direction for New Orleans Saints wide receiver Michael Thomas as he remains questionable to play on Monday Night Football against the Los Angeles Chargers this week. He's been dealing with an ankle injury that has forced him to miss the past three games.
Having Thomas back on the field would be a huge boost for quarterback Drew Brees and the entire offense. The Saints have started 2-2 on the season and look to get back over a .500 record this week.
Michael Thomas Fantasy Outlook
Thomas was limited all this week during practice, but the Saints have said to be working with a three week timetable ever since he first suffered the injury in Week 1. If he is able to return this week, he should immediately slide back into the No. 1 receiving role on the team.
It is noteworthy to point out that the Saints do have a Week 6 bye and could hold Thomas out this week and use the bye to make sure he is fully healthy. That decision may come down to how Thomas looks and warms up pregame.
Thomas draws a decent matchup in Week 6 as the Chargers have given up the 12th-most yards to wide receivers in the league this year. In the event that he is unable to play, wide receivers Emmanuel Sanders and Tre'Quan Smith receive a boost to their fantasy values.
If Thomas is active, he is a solid player to start in your FLEX spot this week or even as your WR2 if needed. His immediate role may not be as large as usual, but he will reach that type of usage again sooner rather than later.
