The Dallas Cowboys had one of the worst defenses in the NFL last season and they made sure to address that area of the roster this offseason. One move Dallas made was drafting linebacker Micah Parsons with the No. 12 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.
Well, it looks like Parsons is already making plays and turning heads during the Cowboys OTAs.
Cowboys News: Micah Parsons Impressing at OTAs
This shouldn't be shocking to hear given Parsons was considered a defensive prospect that would have no trouble transitioning to the NFL level. The young playmaker has the sideline-to-sideline speed needed to keep up with opposing offensive players and the tackling skills to bring them down.
Parsons was a standout over his two seasons played at Penn State and was a consensus All-American back in 2019. Overall, he racked up 191 tackles (18.0 for loss), 6.5 sacks, 5 pass breakups and 6 forced fumbles over the course of 26 games played in college.
Specifically, Parsons could help improve the part of the Dallas defense that struggled the most in 2020. The Cowboys were gashed for 158.8 rushing yards per game last year, which was the second-worst mark in the NFL. Parsons' physicality and instincts out on the field could turn it all around, though.
There is a reason why Parsons has the best odds to win the Defensive Rookie of the Year award at +550, according to FanDuel Sportsbook. He has the opportunity to become an immediate starter on this Cowboys' defense and could make himself a household name by the end of the 2021 season.
