deGrom has yet to pitch at any level this season as he works his way back from a stress reaction in his right scapula suffered during spring training. The two-time Cy Young winner did throw 29 pitches in his third live batting practice session on Wednesday and looks poised to make the next step.
“He’s hit every benchmark. We’ll see how he does on Sunday. … We’ll go outing to outing and see how he feels the next day.”

Jacob deGrom Injury Update
Although he is only set to toss two innings, deGrom is finally inching toward a late season return. The expectation is that he will make 3-4 rehab starts to get fully stretched out. That is when the Mets will be able to reevaluate him in hopes that he can pitch for them for the first time since July 7, 2021.
Despite losing two of their best pitchers early on, the Mets continue to cruise and are tied with the Los Angeles Dodgers for the most wins in the National League (48). They have their eyes set on the World Series and will soon get back a player with an impressive career ERA of just 2.50.
New York has odds set at +700 to take home the World Series title, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
