Since Chicago Bears running back David Montgomery has come into the league, there have been stretches of him putting together incredible performance when given the opportunity. But there have also been strings of games where his involvement in the offense has been lackluster. And at points, head coach Matt Nagy's play calling was called into question because of it.

Nagy intends to change that in 2021. Despite only five running backs seeing more average carries per game last year than Montgomery's 16.5, Nagy wants to feature the third-year back much more next season, aiming to have him average 20 carries a game.

Granted, Nagy is aware that sometimes game flow limits the running back's potential for carries. But with expected improved quarterback play in 2021, Chicago believes it will be leading games more often and will in turn give Montgomery more opportunities.

Montgomery came into the league with a ton of hype, but 2021 could be a major breakout year for the former Iowa State product.
