The Green Bay Packers have been overly cautious with the return of two-time All-Pro left tackle David Bakhtiari, who missed nearly the entire 2021 season with a torn ACL.

Bakhtiari made his long-awaited return in Week 3 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, playing 56% of the offensive snaps while splitting series with backup Yosh Nijman. The biggest concern? Checking in on his status following the biggest workload he's faced in nearly two years.

David Bakhtiari Injury Update

Head coach Matt LaFleur spoke with the media on Thursday and shared an important injury update on his Pro Bowl left tackle.

Bakhtiari did not practice on Thursday after a limited participation status on Wednesday, but there's no cause for major concern. According to LaFleur, "that is the fluid plan that we adjusted to."

While LaFleur indicated the plan will continue to evolve, Green Bay is staying on the conservative side while Bakhtiari nurses back to 100% health. He's simply too important to this team, and Aaron Rodgers' blind side, to not be careful.

There's no official word on Bakhtiari's Week 4 status, but it's safe to assume he'll play in a limited capacity once again. Will Green Bay up his snap count closer to the 65-70% mark? Only time will tell.

LaFleur also provided an update on Elgton Jenkins. Jenkins did not practice on Wednesday but was back on the field Thursday. Green Bay has also not specified his current status for their Week 4 clash with the New England Patriots.

New England ranks fifth in the NFL with 10 sacks through the first three weeks, so the offensive line will have their hands full at keeping Rodgers protected. Rodgers was sacked 4 times in Week 1 against the Vikings, coincidentally the team's worst offensive performance thus far.

As of now, the Packers enter Week 4 as heavy 9.5-point home favorites according to NFL odds on FanDuel Sportsbook.
