Over the past five seasons, Marvin Jones Jr. was one of the most consistent wideouts that the Detroit Lions had, recording 4,296 receiving yards and 36 touchdowns during that span. However, he left the Lions over the offseason and is looking to begin a new chapter in his career with the Jacksonville Jaguars. Fortunately, Jones has the potential to carry the success that he found last season into the upcoming campaign.

Marvin Jones Fantasy Outlook

While Jones wasn't one of the best wideouts last season, he still put up very respectable numbers. He suited up in all 16 games for the Lions in 2020, finishing with 76 receptions for 978 receiving yards and 9 touchdowns. As a result, Fantasy Pros is listing him as their WR53 with an average draft position (ADP) of 141.6.

The good news for Jones and the rest of the Jaguars pass-catchers is that Jacksonville should be a lot better than they were in 2020. Trevor Lawrence is the new signal-caller in town and is looking to leave his impact on the NFL after doing everything he could at the collegiate level. Considering how he registered almost 11,000 passing yards and 90 touchdowns in three seasons with the Clemson Tigers, the potential is certainly there for Lawrence to put up impressive numbers with his group of trusted pass-catchers.

Another thing that bodes well for Jones' fantasy outlook is that DJ Chark Jr. could be seen as the No. 1 wideout in Jacksonville. He's recorded 13 TDs and over 1,700 receiving yards over the past two seasons and will look to continue that success going forward. If Chark is the No. 1 passing option, that could open up the field for more easy targets to Jones.

There's also the fact that the Jaguars may not have that great of a season since this is just the first campaign of a new era. That means Jacksonville could be playing from behind a lot, which could provide Jones with the chance to pick up some garbage time points in the event of a blowout.

Jones currently sits as WR43 on The Duel's fantasy rankings list.
