The Miami Marlins find themselves on the outside looking in at the NL playoff picture as the second half of the season begins. If the 40-53 Marlins have any chance at making up some ground in the NL East race, they'll need almost everything to go in their favor.

An injury to 2B/SS Jazz Chisholm certainly isn't what they wanted to coming out of the All-Star break.

Jazz Chisholm Injury

Chisholm has been diagnosed with a left shoulder strain and subsequently placed on the 10-day injured list. He was forced to leave Sunday's game against the Philadelphia Phillies in the first inning and it appears the ailment is serious enough to require an IL stint.

This is definitely a blow to Miami's lineup. The standout young infielder has racked up 11 home runs, 34 RBIs and 11 stolen bases this season while slashing .251/.317/.437.

The Marlins will have to make do for now without their third-best run producer in 2021. They own longshot +4000 odds to win the NL East, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
