Opening Day of the 2022 MLB season is less than a week away and teams are already dealing with their fair share of injuries. The Miami Marlins are no exception as one of their top relievers, Dylan Floro, has been dealing with arm soreness that's limited his Spring Training activities.

Marlins fans were hoping that Floro would be ready for Opening Day, but that's since been ruled out. Manager Don Mattingly told reporters Friday that the reliever will begin the year on the injured list, forcing him to miss the season opener against the San Francisco Giants on Friday, April 8.

Dylan Floro Injury Update

While the latest Floro injury update is disappointing, Mattingly did have some good news. He said that Floro is "in a good spot," making it sound like the righty could rejoin the team sooner than later (assuming he doesn't have any setbacks).

Floro is slated to be the Marlins' closer whenever he does rejoin the club. He was effective whenever he entered the game in the seventh or a later evening in 2021, recording a 3.00 ERA and 15 saves, along with 59 strikeouts in 60.0 innings pitched.

A quick and full recovery for Floro will be crucial for the Marlins' chances of success this MLB season. Although they've made some improvements over the offseason, the Marlins have just +7000 odds (No. 19) to win the 2022 World Series, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
