The Detroit Lions' secondary has taken several hits to start the 2021 season. They already lost top 2020 pick Jeff Okudah to a ruptured Achilles in Week 1, then rookie Ifeatu Melifonwu suffered an injury in Week 2 against the Green Bay Packers.

Detroit has promoted a veteran cornerback to the active roster with Melifonwu scheduled to hit IR.

The Lions have signed Daryl Worley to the active roster from the practice squad following Melifonwu's injury.

Worley gives Detroit an experienced fallback option with their top corners sidelined. The 2016 third-round pick has spent time with the Carolina Panthers, Las Vegas Raiders, Buffalo Bills and Dallas Cowboys since entering the league.

The 26-year-old has recorded 54 starts and 66 games played over his first five NFL seasons. He's racked up 37 pass deflections and 5 interceptions in that time.

The Lions' hobbled defense now heads into a Week 3 matchup against the Baltimore Ravens. Baltimore is a 7.5-point favorite in that game, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
