As the Detroit Lions prepare for Week 6, the team looks to snap its winless five-game losing streak to start the NFL season. Unfortunately, the Lions were dealt another bit of bad news on Friday morning's injury report.

Detroit announced the placement of cornerback and kick returner Corey Ballentine on the injured reserve. The exciting special teams player is the 14th Lion to be placed on the IR already this season.

Lions Injury News

Ballentine came over to the Lions in September after the team claimed him off waivers from the New York Jets. The 25-year-old returner appeared in three games, operating as one of Detroit's main two kickoff return men. In three games, Ballentine notched 4 kick returns for 94 yards or an average of 23.5 yards per return.

As a corresponding move, the Lions signed cornerback Shakur Brown from the practice squad.

Detroit looks to jump into the win column with a Week 6 matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals. Currently, the Lions are 3.5-point home underdogs on FanDuel Sportsbook.
