Le'Veon Bell Still Salty Over Steelers Contract Situation in Latest Tweet

Sitting out due to contract negotiations didn't used to be as common a strategy as it is today. Running back Le'Veon Bell was at the forefront of the trend when he stood his ground by not playing for the entire 2018 season in hopes of getting the Pittsburgh Steelers to budge.

He is still salty about it to this day, too.

Bell ended up signing with the New York Jets one year later on a deal that was significantly less than what Pittsburgh had reportedly offered him. The Pro Bowler has only racked up 1,218 rushing yards across his final three seasons, which is less than his total during the 2017 season alone (1,291).

The 30-year-old took to Twitter on Thursday to say that he feels wide receiver Deebo Samuel is in a very similar position. Samuel recently requested to be traded from the San Francisco 49ers. Nothing is a guarantee yet, but the odds of him suiting up in Week 1 without a new deal are dwindling.

It's not hard to tell that what Bell goes on to explain is exactly what he believes he went through. He says that other 49ers will be fed the ball in order to make it seem like Samuel was not needed on offense. Of course, his backup RB James Conner broke out with 1,470 total yards in 2018.

Athletes tend to let bygones be bygones in situations like this, but it is clear that Bell has still has some ill will toward the Steelers organization. It hasn't seemed to bother Pittsburgh much given the team has made the playoffs in each of the last two seasons, though.
