Leonard Floyd Recovering From Surprising Injury

Winning a Super Bowl in the NFL means that players usually have to make sacrifices to get there, especially when it comes to playing hurt. That's exactly what Los Angeles Rams edge rusher Leonard Floyd experienced during his team's championship run, proven by the surprising health update he shared on Wednesday.
Floyd confirmed with The Athletic's Jourdan Rodrigue that he had recently undergone surgery to address an ankle injury that surfaced during last year's training camp. The issue left the veteran on injury reports more often than not in 2021, so it's good to see that he finally addressed it.

Leonard Floyd Injury Update
Floyd said that his ankle injury was so bad at times that he couldn't walk following some practices. He added that "it was part of the sacrifice" of winning the Super Bowl and that he doesn't regret it, but it's still tough to imagine the pain that he must've been going through.
The former 2019 first-round selection is as tough as they come, having not missed a game since 2015. Despite all of the pain that he dealt with last year, he still managed to finish with a career-high 70 tackles, 9.5 sacks and an interception.
Even as the intensity increased in the playoffs, Floyd still had a pair of sacks and 12 tackles during the Rams' championship run. If Los Angeles hopes to make it that far again, the 29-year-old needs to have a full recovery.
Floyd was already dangerous while playing with his ankle injury, making it interesting to see if he can take things further in 2022.
Rams Super Bowl Odds
The Rams defense was already elite with an injured Floyd, meaning the team should thrive even more if he gets back to 100%. Defense wins championships and the franchise needs its own to be at the top of its game to capitalize on FanDuel Sportsbook's +1100 odds to win Super Bowl LVII this fall.
