Kyler Murray is one of the hardest quarterbacks to project for the 2019 season. He's a rookie joining one of the worst teams in the NFL from 2018, and will be playing under a first-year head coach in Kliff Kingsbury, who is expected to implement a fairly unique offense with the Arizona Cardinals.

This leaves Murray with an incredibly wide range of outcomes for his 2019 fantasy football value. There's certainly a chance that he flops, but with an average draft position (ADP) of only QB13, per, a lot of that risk is already priced in.

Murray has a couple of big things working in his favor heading into his rookie season, especially from a fantasy football standpoint.

The first is that he is one of the most exciting QB prospects we've seen in a while. He was terrific both through the air and on the ground in his final year at Oklahoma, and Murray earned himself the Heisman Trophy award in the process.

The second is that mobile QBs get a huge upgrade in fantasy football, even if they struggle throwing the ball. We saw that with Josh Allen in 2018, as he threw more interceptions than touchdowns on the year but still eclipsed 25.0 fantasy points in four of his 12 starts.

Kyler Murray Week 1 Fantasy Outlook

Murray finds himself with a terrific opportunity to hit the ground running in Week 1, as he takes on a Detroit Lions team that will be without top linebacker Jarrad Davis.

Despite their 2018 struggles, the Cardinals are only 2.5-point underdogs in this one, according to FanDuel Sportsbook, and a 47-point over/under suggests that this game has some shootout potential as well.

The Lions struggled against the pass in 2018, allowing the seventh most yards per attempt while finishing as one of only four teams that recorded fewer than eight interceptions.

He doesn't crack the top-12 quarterbacks in our Week 1 fantasy football rankings, and cautious owners may look toward some streaming QB options for Week 1 instead, but fantasy owners willing to roll the dice with Murray have a shot at some serious upside to open the season.
