Kyle Shanahan Quote Could Foreshadow Deshaun Watson 49ers Trade

The San Francisco 49ers are expected to be in the market for a new starting quarterback this offseason after another injury-plagued season from Jimmy Garoppolo in 2020. With Houston Texans star Deshaun Watson requesting a trade, many are wondering if San Fran will be involved in the Waston sweepstakes.
A recent quote from head coach Kyle Shanahan could foreshadow his team's aggressiveness in pursuing a Watson deal.
On Kyle Shanahan's thoughts on elite QBs and Deshaun Watson:

"You rarely get the full package. If you find a guy who has the full package, then you do whatever it takes to get that guy and you don’t think twice about it. "https://t.co/p6O5DdiqD4 #49ers pic.twitter.com/qTUyKjW77L
Shanahan isn't flat-out saying the 49ers are going to do whatever it takes to acquire Watson. But he's definitely stating that Watson is the kind of talent to go hard after.
The 49ers have been linked to Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford this offseason as well, with San Francisco expected to be the frontrunner in a deal. That being said, the 49ers' reported offer for Stafford so far is underwhelming.
Perhaps San Francisco is keeping its best assets in its back pocket for the chance that Watson became available this offseason. Now he is, even though the Texans are wrestling with the reality of trading him.
While they haven't been aggressive in going after Stafford, this is absolutely the time for the 49ers to put several first-round picks on the line to acquire a quarterback of Watson's talent.
