There's no better way to validate a player's talent and importance to his team than having the third-best odds to win the NBA Finals MVP four games into a series he has yet to even play in.

We're, of course, talking about Kevin Durant and his reported upcoming return to the court for the Golden State Warriors in Monday night's Game 5 of the NBA Finals against the Toronto Raptors.

Less than five days ago, Durant was facing 50-to-1 odds of winning the NBA Finals MVP, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.

However, as of Monday afternoon, the 10-time NBA All-Star is sitting at +1400 to win the award behind only Kawhi Leonard (-650) and his teammate Steph Curry (+450).

However, Leonard still has a commanding lead in the latest odds to win the Finals MVP, as the Warriors are staring down a 3-1 series deficit against the Raptors.

Considering Durant is still the defending, back-to-back NBA Finals MVP (2017-18), he certainly has an outside shot at winning the award this season.
