It's well documented that quarterback Justin Fields hates to lose. The frustration he showed after a Week 2 loss to the Green Bay Packers reared its head again after a Week 4 loss to the New York Giants. That was especially the case in a confusing response he gave about the Bears passing attack.

Chicago Bears News

When asked about why the passing game isn't working, Fields responded with own question, saying "who says the passing game isn't working?" That was before he made the statement, "the stats don't matter." Chicago ranks dead last in the NFL with a dismal average of 97.5 passing yards per game.

The sentiment here is clear. Fields wants to win and he wants to win by any means necessary. If that means rushing the football 40 times and only attempting 15 passes, so be it. However, the NFL is becoming a pass-first league and Chicago has proven it cannot keep up through four weeks of play.

What was concerning about Sunday's loss is that the Giants shut down the rushing attack, allowing only 3.9 yards per carry to players other than Fields himself. They forced the Ohio State product to beat them with his arm and it led to three efficient drives being stalled in the red zone for the Bears.

Yes, Fields is playing behind a subpar offensive line and has little pass-catching talent to work with. However, the development many Bears fans expected to see this season has not been there so far. Fields' next chance to impress comes in a Week 5 divisional matchup against the Minnesota Vikings.

The Bears have odds set at +37000 to win Super Bowl 57, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
