Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields has been under fire for comments he made regarding his team's fan base after a Week 2 loss to the Green Bay Packers. Those who have supported him in the NFL were left wondering why he said what he said, but he made sure to clear everything up on Wednesday.
Chicago Bears News
Fields went viral for the wrong reasons after he said the loss "hurts more in the locker room than for Bears fans. I mean, at the end of the day, they’re not putting in any work.” Fans took that comment as an insult and thought he was discrediting what they bring to the organization year in and year out.
That was not his intention in the slightest, though. Fields explained that he didn't mean to offend anyone and mentioned that he was simply upset after a tough loss. The 23-year-old pointed out that he respects the fans and "would never disrespect anybody on what they do or what they love to do."
There's no denying that the loss made a big impact on Fields. It was Chicago's 12th loss in its last 13 games against Green Bay and it prompted a change in the young signal-caller's preparation. Fields is now waking up an hour earlier (5:40 a.m.) to study. The Ohio State product hates the feeling of losing.
Bears vs Texans Week 3 Odds
Through two games this season, Fields is 15-of-28 for 191 passing yards with 2 passing touchdowns and 2 interceptions. He's also added 48 yards and 1 touchdown on the ground.
Fields will get a chance to show off his extra preparation this week and redeem himself in front of Bears fans against the Houston Texans at home on Sunday. FanDuel Sportsbook's NFL odds list Chicago as 2.5-point favorites as Fields looks to lead the Bears to a 2-1 start.
