NFL fans have always fed off of rivalries, whether it is between teams of individual players. It just makes the game more exciting. That's exactly why there's so much attention around the budding rivalry of two of the game's best quarterbacks, Josh Allen and Patrick Mahomes.

Even after two consecutive gut-punch playoff losses at the hands of Mahomes and his Kansas City Chiefs, Josh Allen opened up about a surprising piece to this head-to-head competition.

Buffalo Bills News

Allen recently discussed his promising friendship with Mahomes. Allen went into detail on a recent appearance on The Steam Room podcast with Charles Barkley and Ernie Johnson. He explained how he hung out with Mahomes for hours at a Formula One race last weekend and had a good time. Allen mentioned that "it’s a different vibe than what people think.”

"Again, when we step on that field, we were supposed to be competitors. It’s the old mantra, ‘You gotta hate your enemy.’ But I would say that we have a really good relationship, especially for, you know, the type of games that we tend to play in."

The 25-year-old made it clear that the fact that Mahomes is competing for the same goal as him in the same conference really makes no difference during the offseason. It's one of the reasons the two have teamed up to take on Tom Brady & Aaron Rodgers in a televised golf exhibition on June 1.

It's not a popular mantra, but players can be friends off the gridiron and fierce competitors on it. The Buffalo Bills are set to take on the Kansas City Chiefs during the 2022 season, with the date and time being released on Thursday night. It's a matchup fans are surely going to be circling on their calendar.

For now, the Bills remains the favorites to hoist the Lombardi Trophy next February with odds set at +650, according to FanDuel Sportsbook. The Chiefs are not too far behind with odds set at +950.
