The Jacksonville Jaguars have fielded competitive teams over the years, but they have never had elite quarterback play. Heading into the 2020 NFL Draft, they could be interested in taking a quarterback early, in hopes to finally lock down a long term starter. Currently, they are the favorite to draft quarterback Jordan Love, at +200, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
Love was one of the biggest winners of the NFL Combine, receiving a ton of hype after putting his skills on display. The former Utah State Aggie showed that he can make any throw, possessing all the talent of an elite passer. He also proved his athleticism, running a 4.74-second 40-yard dash, which was seventh-fastest among quarterbacks.
The biggest knock to Love's game has been his consistency. He has proven he can make any throw, but he has yet to prove that he can do it in a game on a consistent basis. This has been a weakness among Jaguars quarterbacks for while, with many possessing the talent to be great, but not showing it in big moments.
Currently, the Jaguars are expected to head into the 2020 season with Gardner Minshew as their starter. Minshew was a sixth-round pick last season that brought a new wave of energy into the Jacksonville offense, when he took over for Nick Foles. Still, consistency was an issue, completing just over 60 percent of his passes and winning half of his starts.
Love has garnered interest from many other teams as well. Just behind the Jaguars in odds to draft the quarterback are the Las Vegas Raiders (+500), New England Patriots (+600) and Indianapolis Colts (+650).
