John Mara Offers Mixed Review of Daniel Jones
By Larry Rupp

It's safe to say that New York Giants co-owner John Mara wants to see the team improve. The Giants have made the NFL Playoffs just once in the last decade and fans have a right to be intrigued by Mara's latest comments. His confidence in quarterback Daniel Jones seems to be mixed right now.

Mara met with the media on Monday and was asked if new head coach Brian Daboll's success will be tied with the development of Jones. He answered yes and followed it up with an interesting response.
"Daniel will get a chance next year and we’ll hopefully be able to get a fair evaluation of him and if it doesn’t work out, we’ll go to plan B. But we have a lot of confidence that it will work out."

That statement leaves a lot to be desired. Mara found a way to both back his starting quarterback and mention the possibility of a short leash in 2022. His opinion seems to differ mightily from the trust Daboll enlisted in Jones during his opening press conference.
No one knows what plan B would be right now, but its existence shouldn't be surprising given Jones owns a career record of 12-25 across three seasons. The Duke product completed 64.8% of his pass attempts for 2,428 yards and 10 touchdowns (7 interceptions) in 11 games played in 2021.
The Giants own two top-10 overall picks in the 2022 NFL Draft and it'll be interesting to see if they use them to build around Jones or not.
