The New York Jets are shaking up the team's quarterback depth chart. Former third-string QB Mike White is being moved up to second-string, meaning veteran Joe Flacco will fall back to the third-string spot.
Flacco was inactive last week as well but was also the team's QB1 at the beginning of the season as true starter Zach Wilson worked his way back from injury the first three weeks.
While this may seem like a knock on Joe Flacco, head coach Robert Saleh explained that it's quite the opposite.
"We’ve seen Joe. We know Joe. We love Joe. Hopefully, Zach does not get hurt. But, in the event he does get hurt, Mike White is going to get the opportunity because we need to know what we have in Mike."- Robert Saleh
This is more about finding out exactly what they have in Mike White and if he's a guy that can run the offense in an event of a Zach Wilson injury. We also know Flacco isn't getting any younger. White could have much more staying power if he's able to be as effective as Flacco was in the backup role.
Despite the Jets great start to the season, sitting at 5-3, the team only has +14000 odds to win the Super Bowl, according to FanDuel Sportsbook's latest NFL odds.
