It has only taken second-year defensive lineman Jeffery Simmons 16 games to establish himself as one of the NFL's best young defenders. The guy is an absolute force of nature, tallying 28 tackles, 11 pressures, 9 QB hits, 2.0 sacks and 1 forced fumble in 2020.

But Simmons' box score stats don't tell the full story. In fact, Pro Football Focus has Simmons graded as one of the league's best defensive players, full stop.

PFF gives Simmons the third-highest grade among all defensive tackles. But remember, Vita Vea was lost for the season way back in Week 5, so Simmons has the second-best grade among all active DTs.

Going beyond his comparison among defensive tackles, Simmons is actually tied for the fourth-highest overall grade among all qualifying defenders, at 90.1.

The Titans' defense may be struggling as a whole, but Tennessee's defensive future is bright thanks to the 23-year-old budding superstar.
