Jared Goff Fantasy Bust in Week 6 Doesn’t Mean He’s Not a QB1 in Week 7 vs Falcons

Jared Goff fell entirely flat against the San Francisco 49ers in Week 6, completing 13 of his 24 passes for 78 yards, and, pending Monday Night Football, he sits as fantasy football's QB27 for the week — one spot behind the Saints' current backup QB Taysom Hill.

However, that terrible game doesn't mean Goff isn't a great fantasy option in Week 7, when he gets an elite matchup against the Atlanta Falcons.

Goff's production hasn't been anything special this season, but he had averaged just shy of 18 fantasy points per game in his last four contests heading into Sunday's dud. His Week 6 matchup was also a brutal one, as the 49ers came into the week ranked first in the NFL in Football Outsiders' pass defense DVOA rankings.

The Falcons, on the other hand, came into the week ranked 30th in that metric and proceeded to get shredded to the tune of 340 yards, three touchdowns and zero interceptions on 27-of-37 passing by Kyler Murray.

Atlanta has failed to hold any of its last four opposing QBs to less than 20 fantasy points, and that list includes a couple of unexciting fantasy arms in Marcus Mariota and Jacoby Brissett.

Week 7 QB Rankings Fantasy Football

Goff is 18th in fantasy production among quarterbacks this season, but we can expect him to surpass his season averages in one of the best matchups in the NFL. We know he's capable of producing in the right spot, and taking on the Falcons makes Goff a top-12 fantasy QB in Week 7. That QB1 ranking means he should be a lots of starting lineups, despite his Week 6 struggles.
