Jamie Collins' time with the Detroit Lions appears to be over. The linebacker was held out of practice this week amid trade speculation, which was confirmed by head coach Dan Campbell.

There's a few teams in need of a boost on defense after the start to the season. Here's three likely landing spots for the two-time Super Bowl champ.

Jamie Collins Trade Rumors

3. Miami Dolphins

The Miami Dolphins' defense continues to be the team's strong point, and the recent injury to quarterback Tua Tagovailoa will put even more pressure on that side of the ball. However, this unit could use a boost after being blown out 35-0 by the Buffalo Bills. The Dolphins have struggled against the run this season, ranking No. 22 in Football Outsiders' run-defense DVOA metric. That's where Collins could immediately help, as he currently touts a 79.8 grade from ProFootballFocus against the run. The veteran is also a sure-fire tackler who led Detroit with 101 combined tackles last season. He'd bring a dependable presence that the current LB corps lacks.

2. Denver Broncos

The Denver Broncos' defense looks like one of the best units in football once again, but they just took a major hit after losing linebacker Bradley Chubb for 6-8 weeks. Collins could step up to fill the void left behind in Chubb's absence. The veteran wouldn't be forced to do the heavy lifting opposite of Von Miller, so he could focus on making plays for this unit. He's recorded 6 forced fumbles, 4 INTs and 8.0 sacks in the past two years alone, so he has plenty left in the tank. Pairing Miller with another Super Bowl-winning LB could help this unit remain dominant as they look to return to the playoffs.

1. New England Patriots

This spot makes the most sense. New England loves to bring back players who embody the Patriot Way, and Collins certainly fits the bill. He was a vital piece of two championship teams during his stints with the Pats, winning in 2014 and 2019 as a part of two stout defenses. Collins' 2019 campaign was his best in recent memory, when he racked up 3 INTs, 3 forced fumbles and 7.0 sacks. While his numbers have dropped off in Detroit, he could find that spark again if he returns to Foxborough.
