There's plenty of reasons that Trevor Lawrence was the clear-cut No. 1 overall draft pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. Of course, his on-field play did a lot of the talking. Lawrence racked up more than 10,000 passing yards and 90 touchdowns to just 17 interceptions as a three-year starter for the Clemson Tigers.

But, for a quarterback, his skillset goes further. Lawrence displays natural-born leadership qualities and a desire to learn everything about his playbook and offensive schemes.

Lawrence recently revealed his personal goals for the upcoming Jaguars' training camp. It's nothing short of excellent news for an incoming rookie franchise quarterback.

“I want to just master the offense ... I want to have complete control, know everything, and be comfortable. You can’t really play free and play really well if you don’t know what you’re doing. That’s the goal, to master the offense by the time training camp comes around."

This is just a stated goal and we still have no idea of the execution. But, in terms of saying all of the right things, Lawrence has that part of the job mastered. His clearly plans to work his butt off to learn the the offense with the idea that it will translate into a solid on-field performance once the season rolls around.

Lawrence is likely winning over the locker room and his teammates with this sort of veteran mindset as a leader. Despite the addition of a franchise quarterback, the Jaguars will have a long way to go in the betting odds department. Currently, FanDuel Sportsbook gives the Jags just +5000 odds to win the AFC Championship.

But, with this attitude and mentality, Lawrence is favored to win the Offensive Rookie of the Year award at +270 odds.
